Comme toujours avec Chino, DEFTONES est un groupe EXCELLENT, tout les titres sont TOP, cet album est une pépite ! Merci encore les gars, cet opus est absolument à posséder.

This is one of the best Deftones albums front to back. It has the heavy guitars on tracks like “My Mind is a Mountain” and “Locked Club”. The bliss of “I think about you all the Time” which may rank as one the best Deftones ballads, but the typically excel at this type of track. “Cut Hands” sounds like it could have been on Diamond Eyes. “Souvenir” feels like “Rosemary” but not as powerful or as good in my opinion. “Infinite Source” is one of the more accessible tracks with great vocals from Chino. This is a must own for any Deftones fan and even great for anyone new to the band (which I couldn’t imagine).

Das Artwork ist sehr ansprechend, die Songs sind sehr gut bis großartig, die Pressung ist ebenfalls sehr gut und es gibt kaum Nebengeräusche, selbst der Preis ist mit unter 30 € gerade noch in Ordnung.Was absolut nicht in Ordnung ist, ist der Mix. Hört ihr euch das Produkt eigentlich nicht an, bevor ihr es veröffentlicht?Es gibt so gut wie keinen Dynamikumfang. Alle Instrumente sind permanent nahezu gleich laut, was die ganze Angelegenheit sehr unnatürlich klingen lässt. Hätte man hier die volle Dynamik genutzt, wäre es eine unglaublich gute und mega-brutale Platte geworden. So ist es für mich klanglich eine absolute Enttäuschung.Trotzdem noch 4 Sterne weil ich vermute, dass die Band wenig Einfluss darauf hat und wir das irgendwelchen geldgierigen Idioten zu verdanken haben.

Deftones are probably my favorite all-time band. Their sound has become more refined since their early years, but they still are amazing and definitely one of a kind. Chino still has an amazing, unique voice. Steph still creates some of the best guitar riffs, Abe is still is a heavy hitter and shreds it up.A lot of people whine about them not being as “hard” as they once were, but they’ve grown is all. They didn’t sell out. They aren’t commercial. They’re better than 99.99% of anything out there.

Das neue Deftones-Album hab ich jetzt schon ein paar Mal via Spotify angehört und ich finde es großartig! Für mich ist bisher jedes Deftones-Album mindestens gut, aber das hier ist für mich jetzt schon eines ihrer abwechslungsreichsten. Warum ich’s auf Vinyl bestellt hab? Vinyl hat einfach – mit dem richtigen Equipment – einen viel schöneren Klang. Hängt natürlich von der Pressung ab, aber ich hab einige Platten, die mindestens so gut und manche sogar besser klingen vom Sound her, als die CD- oder Digital-Versionen.Im vorliegenden Fall kann ich das nicht sagen, weil ich diese Vinyl-Version bei mir nicht abspielen kann. Die Platte war so stark gewölbt, dass mein Tonabnehmer abhebt und ich verwende keine überteuerten Randringe zum Beschweren der Platten am Außenrand… genau sowas bräuchte ich jetzt aber. Bisher hab ich noch nie so einen Murks von Amazon geschickt bekommen, glaube aber in der Tat, dass der Verbrecher hinter dieser Vinyl-Vergewaltigung wahrscheinlich eher das Presswerk ist. Kann noch so schön drauf stehen “First Edition Vinyl blablabla”.Ich versuche die Platte zu begradigen – dafür gibt’s ja den einen oder anderen Trick. Aber wahrscheinlich geht die Platte zurück. Es sei noch zusätzlich erwähnt, dass die Platte auch nicht wie sonst üblich in einem verstärkten Versandkarton verpackt war, die normalerweise dick genug ist, um weitere Verformungen einzudämmen, sondern einfach so in einer Riesenschachtel mit anderer Ware… wobei die andere Ware nicht dran Schuld ist, das kann ich definitiv sagen. Ich moniere hier eher, dass die Platte achtlos in einer großen Versandschachtel lag. Kenne ich so nicht von Amazon.Egal wer Schuld daran ist, bei dem Preis, einer solch renommierten Band und der mittlerweile doch eigentlich wieder hohen Pressungsqualität ganz im Allgemeinen in der Vinyl-Landschaft, hätte ich einfach mehr erwartet.

This would be a good or decent Deftones release. However, the production has as much or more clipping than Metallica’s Death Magnetic. It makes the album truly hard to focus on and the songs hard to remember. It is all such a sonic blur. Every listen is like the first listen because you can’t remember any of the songs. This album sounds like going to a really loud concert and the band playing a whole album of songs you’ve never heard before. It is difficult to make out the lyrics or melodies to the songs because they are so loud that they are heavily distorted. I had to do my own remaster job on this album to make it listenable.Open the songs in Audacity with the “show clipping” option on and you’ll see that this album has so much clipping that the entire waveform is covered in red. If you turn “show clipping” off, it will appear as a solid, brickwalled block with no dynamics (ups and downs) at all.It seems like the mastering engineer took the name “Deftones” a little too literally. This album will cause deafness in those that don’t already have an existing hearing impairment. Those that are already deaf or already have existing hearing impairments will have no difficulty in being able to hear and listen to the album. The use of hearing aids or other assistive devices will be unnecessary, since the resulting volume is loud enough to render them redundant.

Classic progressive heavy of old school Deftones with a modern edge. I’d easily put this in my top 10 albums of all time, which is a noteworthy thing to say since I own nearly 30 GB of music from every genre. Worthy album.
